Not All Batteries Are Equal

Oncore best of the crop to power Oncore supports leading brands, including Apple, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, HP-Compaq, IBM-Lenovo

For folks who are travelling quite a bit on business, battery life longevity is not just a sales blurb, it is a real necessity. Anyone who has ever run out of batteries with no chance to hook up to a power network (or even worse, sitting next to a plug without the right adapter) knows what I am talking about. As Steve Johnson describes in his Mercury news articleComputer battery life sparks highly charged debate,” not all batteries are equal. According to his article, a class-action lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in San Jose accused Intel of essentially rigging their tests to inflate the battery life of laptops powered by its chips. There is a growing demand for high quality replacement batteries—I am not alone in this. According to the Advanced Rechargeable Battery Market: Emerging Worldwide Trends and Opportunities report, last year’s worldwide sales amounted to over $36 billion. With the economy still somewhat wishy-washy, my gut feeling is that more folks will buy high-quality replacement batteries rather than a new laptop or notebook. However, most travelling guys in our agency use Oncore replacement batteries; hence, my recommendation goes with what has proven to be a good product for our daily business use (A.k.a. encore Oncore).  Oncore supports leading brands, including Apple, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, HP-Compaq, IBM-Lenovo, Panasonic, Sony and Toshiba. Oncore battery products are available through many resellers, including Insight, PC Mall, Mac Mall, eCOST, Computer Connection, Academic Superstore,, PC Connection, MoreDirect, Tiger Direct, SHI and through Ingram Micro and Tech Data distribution. Check with your preferred reseller or go to Oncore’s website at
